For people living with pain, opioid medications can provide a way to get much-needed relief. Still, the risks of prescription pain medicines are serious and challenging. Abuse, misuse, addiction, overdose and diversion of pain medicines impact millions of people and their loved ones each year. To improve patient safety, everyone involved in the treatment of pain needs to understand how to responsibly prescribe, appropriately dispense, safely store, use and dispose of these powerful pain relievers. We at Republic Pain Specialists strive to educate our patients on the dangers of opioids and provide every possible option to relieve their pain without the use of opioids.

You are not alone! Chronic pain is a very common health problem. You and your primary care team are partners in treating your pain. It is important to have open and regular contact for this partnership to work. The goal of treating chronic pain is to improve function so you can get back to doing daily activities. You and your provider team will talk about how you are doing on daily activities and then create an individual treatment plan to help you reach your goals.
